Two of the vehicles involved in a three-vehicle collision this morning on 20th Street near Grand Avenue sit incapacitated in the roadway. According to Cmdr. Lindell Smith of the Artesia Police Department, the accident occurred when one vehicle attempted to turn into the southernmost entrance to the Penasco Apartments as a second vehicle slowed down behind. A third vehicle approaching behind the second did not stop, colliding with the second vehicle and knocking it into the first. A neck injury was reported by one involved party, and that individual was transported to Artesia General Hospital. At least one citation is pending for the driver of the third vehicle, and at least one vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
