Anyone who’s ever played high school or college football has wondered what it would be like to strap on the old cleats and step out on the field one more time. Gridiron Alumni seeks to grant that wish, as well as help raise money for charity.

Gridiron Alumni travels the nation pitting old football rivals against one another, and is looking to stage several full-contact alumni football games in the area.

Since Gridiron’s inception in 2010, hundreds of players and thousands of fans have swarmed stadiums to watch their hometown heroes compete again. The company does not discriminate against smaller schools and rivalries.

Players from the Artesia area are invited to register for a potential game. The first 40 players from a single high school to sign up will comprise the team, and the team that is the first to register 25 players will receive home-field advantage.

Games are set for the spring and summer. Gridiron Alumni provides all equipment, rents the field, and arranges for the officials. Games are also used as a fundraising vehicle for local charities. The average game raises around $5,000, but that amount can increase with planning and effort.

The Benedictine Alumni Association and a local charity in Savannah, Ga., raised more than $20,000 with their game, and the Canton, N.C., Lion’s Club raised $30,000.

Players are required to submit a $39.95 deposit to register online, which will be applied to the total $80 player fee for early registration or $100 fee for registration after the deadline.

To register, visit www.gridironalumni.com and search “Artesia, NM.” For more information, contact Chris at 530-410-6396.
