Memorial services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Jose A. Luevano of Artesia.

Luevano, 78, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at San Pedro Nursing Center.

Fr. Martin Cornejo will officiate at the services. Cremation is under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. today at Our Lady of Grace.

Luevano was born March 19, 1937, in Artesia, the son of Ambrosio Luevano and Sarah (Aguilar) Luevano. He was a lifelong Artesia resident.

He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

He was a truck driver and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. He taught at Head Start and loved to play solitaire and do word searches.

Survivors include daughters Brenda Luevano and Erica Flores and husband Benjamin, both of Artesia; sons Jose Luevano and wife Stephanie and Israel Luevano, both of Artesia; four sisters; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
