No services are scheduled for Billie Lee “B.L.” or “Bucky” Hamilton Sr. of Artesia.

Hamilton, 83, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, in Artesia.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Billie was born Oct. 21, 1935, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., to Robert and Bertha (Wilson) Hamilton. He came to Artesia in the early 1950s from Arkansas.

In 1956, he married Shirley Ann White in Juarez, Mexico.

Billie worked in the oilfield for many years, holding many positions from derrick hand to driller for WEK. He enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors, playing guitar, singing, and Dallas Cowboys games, and he loved the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Survivors include daughters Teresa Smith and Lisa Ostiguy; sons Billy Hamilton and John Hamilton; sisters Florine Coburn and Mae Dean Rossiter; grandchildren Michael Vowell, Matthew Vowell, Courtney DeLong, William Jefferson Lee Hamilton and Cassidy Ostiguy; and great-grandchildren Jaydrian Perez and Jonathon Molina.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Hamilton, on Dec. 4, 2014; his parents; brothers Bobby Hamilton and O.D. Henly; and sister Nina Starr.

The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Encompass Home Health Care, Mike, Yvonne, Jana, and his favorite nurse, Debra.
