    Shiffrin grabs lead after 1st run of World Cup slalom

    ASPEN, Colo. (AP) — Mikaela Shiffrin shook off the disappointment of a fall the day before and turned in two blistering runs to win a World Cup slalom by 3.07 seconds Saturday, the largest margin of victory in the history of the women’s discipline.

    KUUSAMO, Finland (AP) — Defending overall champion Martin Johnsrud Sundby of Norway won the men’s 10 kilometer freestyle event Saturday at the opening cross-country skiing World Cup meet of the season, while Therese Johaug dominated the women’s 5K race.
