    SYDNEY (AP) — A police official described a group of people being held hostage by a gunman inside a Sydney cafe during a 16-hour ordeal as “jovial,” a police commander told an inquest into the deadly siege on Monday.

    1st Chibok girl to escape Boko Haram to be feted in Nigeria

    LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — Aid workers and parents of the girls who were kidnapped from a school in 2014 lashed out at the Nigerian government and military Thursday for their handling of the first of the so-called Chibok girls to escape the Islamic extremist group Boko Haram.
