    MEXICO CITY (AP) — Luis Scola had 35 points and 13 rebounds, and Argentina beat Canada 94-87 on Tuesday in the men’s Olympic qualifying tournament.

    Tropical storm weakens, but leaves 20 dead in Caribbean

    ROSEAU, Dominica (AP) — Rescue crews jumped off boats and trudged through mud, rocks and uprooted trees Saturday to reach communities cut off by a tropical storm that killed at least 20 people and left nearly 50 missing in the eastern Caribbean island of Dominica.

    Vatican says ex-envoy, charged with sexual abuse, has died

    VATICAN CITY (AP) — The Vatican’s former ambassador to the Dominican Republic, who had been charged by church prosecutors with sexually abusing children in the Caribbean country, died Friday of apparent natural causes as he awaited trial, the Vatican said.

    ROSEAU, Dominica (AP) — Tropical Storm Erika pounded the eastern Caribbean island of Dominica on Thursday, unleashing flooding and mudslides that killed at least four people and knocked out power and water supplies.
