Artesia Public Schools students will have the opportunity Friday to end the 2016 school year with a splash.
The annual School’s Out Summer Splash, sponsored by 7024U Youth Outreach Center, will be held from 1-4 p.m. Friday at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Complex, featuring games, activities, food, and plenty of water.
Attendees of all ages will be able to find entertaining ways to kick off their summer. The basketball and sand volleyball courts will be open, along with the skate park. And if the Splash Pad isn’t enough to get kids soaked, the Artesia Fire Department will be on hand to finish the job.
Food vendors will be offering hamburgers, drinks, snacks and sno-cones, and booths will also be hosted by the Artesia Public Library and Eddy County DWI Program to offer information on the upcoming Summer Reading Programs and staying safe and alcohol-free on the roads.
7024U will offer face painting and games, and a DJ will provide a summer soundtrack.
“It’s a safe environment for the kids and their parents to have fun and pretty much just start off the three-day weekend and the summer,” said 7024U Program Director Missy Bejarano. “Come out and enjoy a family event!”
