The three judges of the Yates Petroleum Corporation’s canned food drive competition, from left, Hayley Klein, executive director of the Artesia Chamber of Commerce, city councilman Manuel Madrid Jr., and Artesia Public Schools athletic director Cooper Henderson, eye the different canned-food creations put together by different departments at YPC. The winner, pictured below, was the work of the team aptly titled Cantastic, comprised of the Yates Revenue and Financial Departments, which constructed a faithful reproduction of Bulldog Bowl. A total of 7,772 cans and boxes of nonperishable food items were collected by the YPC offices in Artesia, Denver, Colo., Wyoming and Houston, Texas. The food will be donated to two food pantries in Artesia – Artesia Emergency Relief and the St. Vincent de Paul Society – one in Roswell – Harvest Ministries – as well as food banks local to the out-of-state offices. All food and funds for food were contributed by YPC employees.
