Matthew Sloan, 31, of Carlsbad, was sentenced to life in prison Thursday on charges of first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon following his conviction last September in the 2012 death of Artesia resident Timothy Wallace.
Police say Sloan and two accomplices, Senovio Mendoza and Donald “Duck” Ybarra, both of Carlsbad, were under the influence of methamphetamines when they impersonated members of the Pecos Valley Drug Task Force and violently entered Wallace’s home. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
