If all goes to plan, those putting together the 7024U Outreach Center may receive some support from the Eddy County Commission in less than two weeks.
During the next Eddy County Commission meeting, slated for Nov. 20, the Eddy County Commission will be contemplating a request submitted by the Artesia Policing Department, Milestones Wellness Center and the Artesia Drug & Crime Coalition for $30,000. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
As Debbie Bell with Milestones Wellness Center said in a meeting with various public officials, 7024U will need roughly $250,000 to properly start the project.
The commission was prepared to meet with representatives of the outreach program during last Wednesday’s meeting, but there was a snag, as County Manager Allen Sartin pointed out.
“There was some confusion, and apparently the folks who were making the request were not notified that they were on the agenda,” Sartin said. “So we tabled it for two weeks, and I made sure that they were notified about it this morning.”
While the commission’s discussion on the matter is still a little ways away, some commissioners have voiced their support for 7024U.
