An Artesia woman was arrested Friday after allegedly burglarizing a local salon.

Police were dispatched to Chez Camille Salon, at 520 W. Main, after receiving a call regarding an audible alarm at 1:52 a.m. According to the report, when the officer arrived he discovered that one of the salon’s front windows had been broken.

The officer stated in the report that he had seen Liberty Hampton, 32, walking in the area several times that night. After finding blood at the scene, police searched for and found Hampton a short distance from the business. The officer reportedly observed blood on her hand and small shards of glass on the left sleeve of her shirt and in her sandals.

The report states that the officers found a bag containing a commercial hair straightener, valued at $1,200, near the place where Hampton was found. Police also located another bag holding $650 worth of merchandise. The owner of the salon was able to identify the missing items as belonging to Chez Camille Salon. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
