Former Washington basketball star Christian Welp dies at 51

SEATTLE (AP) — Christian Welp, the 7-foot German center who holds the University of Washington’s career scoring record and played three seasons in the NBA, has died. He was 51.

CHICAGO (AP) — When Minnie Minoso broke into major league baseball, the “Cuban Comet” was part of a wave of black players who changed the game forever. By the time he played in his final game 35 years ago, he was a beloved figure with the Chicago White Sox.

Knicks say former player Anthony Mason has died
