LOS ANGELES (AP) — Paige VanZant was too young to fight professionally when she first took up mixed martial arts. When a small-time promotion offered her the chance to walk around the cage holding a numbered card above her head, she took it even though she really wanted to be inside throwing punches.

LONDON (AP) — Top-ranked taekwondo fighter Aaron Cook can compete for Moldova in the Olympics and other international competitions after the British Olympic Association approved his request to switch nationalities.

SAO PAULO (AP) — Mixed martial arts fighter Anderson Silva will meet with Brazilian taekwondo officials in hopes of competing in next year’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, despite facing a possible doping ban.
