DETROIT (AP) — A cross country coach from Milford High School has won the men’s division of the Detroit marathon, while an ex-Grand Valley State distance runner has taken the women’s title.

BEIJING (AP) — Despite heavy pollution blanketing Beijing on Sunday, an international marathon went ahead, with face masks and sponges among the equipment used by competitors to battle the smog.
