Feds: ‘Unusual’ wear on new tubes at CA nuke plant

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Federal regulators said Thursday that unusual wear has been found on hundreds of virtually new tubes that carry radioactive water at Southern California’s San Onofre Unit 2 nuclear plant.

CHICAGO (AP) — A failed electrical insulator in a switchyard was to blame for the power failure that caused one of Exelon Energy’s nuclear reactors in northern Illinois to shut down, company officials said Tuesday.
