LIVONIA, Mich. (AP) — A hearing continues to decide whether a soccer player should stand trial for murder on accusations that he punched a referee because he objected to being ejected from a recreational league game in suburban Detroit.

LIVONIA, Mich. (AP) — A soccer referee who was fatally punched by a player during a recreational game in suburban Detroit did not expect the attack, one of the player’s teammates testified Wednesday.

NEW YORK (AP) — A summer spike in costumed characters behaving badly in Times Square — most recently a Spider-Man accused of punching a police officer — has turned up the heat on plans to regulate the legions of Elmos, Cookie Monsters and Statues of Liberty who often demand money for posing in photos with tourists.

DETROIT (AP) — A pitcher in the Detroit Tigers organization was charged Wednesday with sexually assaulting a woman at a downtown hotel last spring after they met at a bar in the suburbs.
