KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Georges Niang scored 28 points, reserve Dustin Hogue had 17 and No. 13 Iowa State beat Alabama 84-74 on Monday night to reach the CBE Classic championship game.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Melo Trimble had 31 points, Dez Wells scored all but two of his 14 points in the second half and Maryland beat Arizona State 78-73 on Monday night in the semifinals of the CBE Classic.

Manfred given 5-year term as baseball commissioner

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Praising the transition as quick and orderly, Bud Selig announced Thursday that baseball owners unanimously approved a five-year term for Rob Manfred, who will succeed the longtime commissioner early next year.
