Pitcher testifies on etiquette for hitting batter

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Testifying that there is a professional etiquette to beaning batters, a former major league pitcher says he did not intentionally hit Jose Offerman during a 2007 independent minor league game, setting off a brawl.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Former major leaguer Jose Offerman testified Friday that he neither swung his bat at two minor leaguers nor caused their injuries during a scuffle that broke out when he was hit by a pitch during a 2007 comeback attempt.
