SANTA FE (AP) — Gov. Bill Richardson says he’s committed to addressing the issues brought up by New Mexico’s American Indian leaders during a special summit this week.
The summit at Acoma Pueblo was the first of what will be an annual event as the state implements a new law aimed at improving communication and collaboration among state agencies and tribal governments.
Richardson says the state will work closely with the tribes to ensure they compete for and receive the maximum amount of federal stimulus money available.
Richardson says he has added two Indian representatives to the federal stimulus funding competitive grants advisory team.
