ARTESIA — Donna Todd may be a new teacher, but she is not new to the Artesia School System.

Mrs. Todd started working in the schools as a teacher’s aid at Yucca Elementary in 1996, and in 1998 moved to Hermosa as a library aid.

Having graduated from Goddard High School in 1981, she recently completed her bachelor’s degree at the College of the Southwest and is now teaching 5th-grade at Yucca.

Mrs. Todd’s philosophy of teaching is, "To give each of my students confidence in who they are, tools to face the future, and love from the bottom of my heart."

She has three children, Shane and Shawn, both 18 and Brianne who is 14.

Terry Todd, her husband, works as the chief of training, management, and support at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.

Her hobbies and extracurricular activities include being a Sunday school teacher, reading, quilting, singing praise and worship.
