The Artesia Police Department is seeking the public’s help in solving a recent residential burglary in which a “large amount of firearms” were stolen.
According to APD spokesman Sgt. Lindell Smith, officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1300 block of South 13th Street just after 6 p.m. on Sunday in reference to a burglary. “They discovered that between 9 p.m. on June 20 and the time of the call (on Sunday), a burglary had occurred at the residence,” he said.
Some of the items stolen include a Play Station 3, approximately 20 DVDs, a laptop computer and numerous firearms. “The suspects stole rifles, pistols and shotguns,” he said, but declined to give an exact number.
While no arrests have been made, Smith said they are “working some leads” right now, but need the public’s assistance. “Any information citizens have about the burglary or the possession of the stolen items should be reported to our department right away,” he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the APD at 746-5000; may remain anonymous by calling the Eddy County Crime Stoppers at 748-2323; or may send an anonymous text message to 513-0792.
