Kathy Kolt of Artesia recently received educational materials from the National Wild Turkey Federation for use in teaching young people about wild turkeys and conservation. She visited Lil’ Dogs day care center Monday and gave a presentation. “The young folks at Lil’ Dogs found out there is a difference between domestic turkeys people eat at Thanksgiving and wild turkeys,” said Kolt. “They enjoyed learning how the Indians used turkeys, the different calls they make and how turkeys are trapped to transport to different areas. The kids especially liked the box that turkeys are transported in. All the kids received a Jakes activity book.”
