Community organizations set out on a mission Saturday to acquire food to help local nonprofits provide nonperishable items for people in need.

Joining forces, the Altrusa Club, the Artesia Fire Department and the Boy and Girl Scouts all took a humanitarian stand, committing to fight hunger due to poverty, hardship or disaster.
