BEIRUT (AP) — Three members of Lebanon’s militant Hezbollah group died of wounds sustained while fighting for control of a strategic Syrian town near the Lebanese border, activists said Tuesday, as the battle in the area raged for its third straight day.

Correction: Cyprus-Breaking Barriers story

NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) — In a story April 27 marking the 10th anniversary of the breaching of the barriers carving up Cyprus, The Associated Press erroneously reported that Yiannis Maratheftis had written a book detailing his experiences. The book was about Maratheftis’ experiences, but not written by him. It was written by Panikos Neocleous.

Myanmar Muslims jailed for killing Buddhist monk

MEIKHTILA, Myanmar (AP) — A Myanmar court sentenced seven Muslims to prison — one of them to a life term — in the killing of a Buddhist monk amid deadly sectarian violence that was overwhelmingly directed against minority Muslims but has produced no serious charges against the members of the country’s Buddhist majority.
