Thirteen people, including five Artesia residents, were arrested Wednesday morning on charges of methamphetamine trafficking.
The 13 arrested Wednesday join six previous arrests and one fugitive for a total of 20 individuals charged in a drug ring conspiring to traffic methamphetamine between El Paso, Texas, and Artesia.
The arrests occurred after a federal grand jury returned an indictment charging 17 alleged members of the ring with narcotics crimes. The other three individuals were arrested on criminal complaints.
According to multiple reports, Monica Grado, 29, and Josh Wallace, 27, were charged in the indictment along with the following individuals:
- Michael Roy Sing, 53, of Carlsbad
- Joaquin Estrello, of Carlsbad
- Terry Owens, 51, of Carlsbad
- Chris Grado, 34, of Carlsbad
- Stacy L. Batie, 38, of Hagerman
- Martiniano Marin-Robles, 66, of Lake Arthur
- Jerry Plank, 29, of Lovington
A release from the Pecos Valley Drug Task Force also lists Larry D. Cravens, 34, of Artesia, as being among those arrested Wednesday.
Six other individuals listed in the indictment had been arrested and detained prior to Wednesday’s arrests.
Manuel Fierro-Carrasco Jr., 29, and Tyler Grantham, 26, of Artesia were arrested Oct. 31, along with Adrian Garcia, 24, of Canutillo, Texas, after agents pulled over a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer driven by Garcia and a 2007 Chevy pickup driven by Grantham with Fierro in the passenger seat. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.

agree with Cream comment, I have personally given police names and address of known Meth dealers in Artesia, only to be told, ” We can’t do anything about hear-say” Out of the 20 caught could be missing another 10 times that. …… another sad Artesian

I agree with Samiam, that is what is wrong with the world today. Drug uses is just going to get worse and worse if we don’t fight it. Until you have to watched someone you love go through drug addiction and the only way to get help is send them to an inpatient rehab and pray they don’t relapse because the temptation is so strong when the get out, you don’t know what it’s like. I believe we need more RATS!!!
