ARTESIA — The New Mexico State Police have released the name of a man who was involved in a shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday, July 22, involving Carlsbad Police and Eddy County Sheriff ‘s officials who initiated a pursuit after he ignored the officers’ attempts to pull him over.

The suspect has been identified as Zachary Gordon, 20, of Carlsbad. The pursuit concluded on County Road 41, East Dayton Rood, and the intersection of US Highway 285. While attempting to apprehend Gordon, shots were fired from and Gordon was struck. A firearm was located in the immediate area and Gordon was transported to University Hospital in Lubbock.

State Police are in the process of compiling his charges.
