The immigration support group Somos Un Pueblo Unido (We Are A United People) will have a prayer meeting Sunday, Aug. 17, followed by a march north from the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Complex toward the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) at 1 p.m.
The FLETC has hosted a U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility for undocumented women with children since June. The majority of the detainees came from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and other Central American countries in order to escape gang violence and poor economic prospects in their home countries under false promises they would be permitted to remain in the U.S. if they were discovered north of the border. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
