Casares reportedly fired shots at home where his child and former girlfriend stayed

An Artesia man has been arrested for allegedly shooting toward a residence where his child and the child’s mother were staying.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the Artesia Police Department in Artesia Magistrate Court, 20-year-old Paul Casares and the mother of his child have been having domestic problems for months.

The ongoing dispute apparently came to a head on Tuesday, when Casares reportedly called the victim at approximately 3 a.m. and informed her he was in route to her place of residence.

The woman told officers she could hear him saying, “where’s my gun? Where’s my gun?”

Soon after the phone call had ended, the alleged victim said she heard the distinct sound of Casares’ pickup truck outside the residence, followed by two gunshots. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
