Artesia Police Department Commander Tim Argo, left, and Duke Dutch of Leica Geosystems Public Safety Group discuss the Leica ScanStation C10 Laser Scanner Thursday morning in the Artesia Fire Department garage. Costing anywhere between $100,000 and $200,000, the laser scanner takes roughly 6 million photos in about six to 10 minutes, ultimately providing a high-resolution, panoramic photograph. Argo said if the APD and AFD find the scanner to be useful, they will request one in their upcoming budgets for the next fiscal year to better analyze arson and crash investigations as well as other crime scenes.
