Amanda Walther, left, and Sheila Carabine of the Canadian folk duo Dala entertain the crowd Tuesday at the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center. Winners of the 2010 Canadian Folk Music Award for Vocal Group of the Year, Walter and Carabine, best friends who met in their high school music class in 2002, have released five studio albums. Their most recent, “Best Day,” earned three Canadian Folk Music Award nominations. The pair’s haunting harmonies atop catchy guitar and piano arrangements were punctuated with humorous interludes that kept the crowd engaged to the very last song, an audience-participation rendition of “All I Have to Do is Dream,” made famous by the Everly Brothers.
