Dr. Mary Feldblum, executive director of the Health Security for New Mexicans Campaign, went before the Artesia City Council Tuesday to give an overview of the New Mexico Health Security Act, a proposed state plan which may replace the Affordable Health Care for America Act in New Mexico.
Feldblum stated that if the New Mexico State Legislature passes the New Mexico Health Security Act, “it will enable New Mexico to set up its own health plan that would cover most New Mexicans.” … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
“Most New Mexicans would be covered in what we call an old-fashioned health risk pool – young, old, healthy and not-so-healthy – all in it together,” Feldblum said. “Those covered under this plan would have complete freedom of choice of doctor and hospital – no more networks. And this plan, just like any insurance plan, can contract around the county and cross state lines.”
