The Eddy County Commission provided the county’s Teen Court with $8,000 in funding Tuesday.
The court, affiliated with the Carlsbad Anti-Drug/Gang Coalition, received funding last year of $6,700. The court’s administrator, Joanna Wells, hadn’t planned to request funding from the county this year but had attempted to get a federal grant through the City of Carlsbad. The fact that the New Mexico Department of Finance Authority had yet to audit Carlsbad meant the Teen Court was unable to get its government grant. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
