ARTESIA — The Wet ‘n’ Wild Ride had 165 registered runners, walkers, skaters and bikers who dared to brave the water gauntlet June 29 in the first annual event, sponsored by the Ride for Bikes Christmas bike charity.
Working in conjunction with the Smokin’ on the Pecos New Mexico State BBQ Championship, participants traveled from Jaycee Park to the Eddy County Fairgrounds, getting drenched along the way by “soaker teams” competing for the Super Soaker Award.
