Chase Foundation Scholarship Family

For the seventh year, Chase Foundation Director Richard Price, above, was pleased Tuesday to present the 2013 Chase Scholarship recipients with information needed for this unique and wonderful opportunity. The eager “college students to be” and their parents filled the old boys’ gym at Artesia High School to receive the message from the organization, as it echoed, “If you have received this scholarship, please do not take it for granted. The guidelines, responsibility, requirements and criteria have been made fair and easy to be met, so push yourself further and give yourself room to breathe with ease, and each student must do their part to maintain the integrity of this scholarship.” Also on hand were representatives from the numerous New Mexico and West Texas colleges that have partnered with the Chase Foundation to further aid students. At left, Jaylen Fuentes and parents Tammy and Christopher Fuentes made a bee line to Jaylen’s first choice college, Texas Tech University. Jaylen says he plans to major in Engineering and is “looking forward to getting started, with a 4.0 GPA.” His parents are confident their son’s choice is right for him, as his interest in math and science have been strong since he was a child. Both said they are very grateful for the Chase Scholarship opportunity. Grace Miller - Daily Press
