BULLOCKS DEMOLITION 11 BULLOCKS DEMOLITION MURAL
Demolition has begun on Bullock’s Feed & Seed, picturedtop, a company that contributed to Artesia’s character dating back as far as 1917. The family-owned company structured a well-laid plan that lasted for decades, serving as a feed store and setting itself apart in the area with friendly, hometown service. The building, located at 105 S. First St., is now undergoing demolition, taking a huge piece of the city’s history with it. Pictured above, a fragmented mural depicting four seasons of farm views will not be able to be salvaged due to being painted on a concrete wall, saddening many. The demolition of the building will open up the corner of First and Main streets for economic development, and an IHOP is slated to be constructed there. Speaking with the crew, “Demolition for gutting the inside of the building is estimated to take approximately a week.” The exterior will undergo the wrecking ball and is scheduled for next Tuesday. More photos of Bullock’s will be published throughout the week.
