After what seemed like a routine traffic stop, the Artesia Police Department arrested Brandon Brewer, 32, of Artesia, Monday morning for possession of a controlled substance (heroin) and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The arresting officer pulled over the vehicle Brewer was driving, a 1998 Buick four-door, because it appeared that he “was asleep or something was wrong,” according to the incident report. Dispatch soon revealed that Brewer had a suspended or revoked license, but because he was pulled over on private property (a parking lot) and the vehicle was not moving, little could be done.
