Various figureheads from Roswell and Artesia’s public and private sectors will be embarking next month on their fifth trip to Washington, D.C., to meet with various representatives and agencies and discuss numerous issues pertinent to Eddy and Chaves Counties.


According to a memorandum of agreement (MOA) passed by the Artesia City Council Tuesday night, the trip is being planned by the Chambers of Commerce of Artesia, Carlsbad and Roswell together with the government entities of the City of Roswell, the City of Artesia, the City of Carlsbad and Eddy and Chaves Counties. The city has agreed to pay up to $3,000 per city official attending the trip.

As Artesia Chamber Director Hayley Klein explained, the group of 20 local representatives will be in Washington from April 14-17. They will meet with various representatives and agencies from Monday, April 15, to Wednesday, April 17.
Beginning on Monday, the first full day in Washington, D.C., they’ll “hit the ground running” with an entire day’s worth of meetings.
