The art and science of being a new mother can be overwhelming. Acting as a support group for new moms with preschool to grade-school-aged children, Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) understands the feeling. The group – open to all mothers, urban, rural, stay-at-home, working, teen, adoptive, special-needs, single or married – provides childcare to allow each mother to have “mommy time.” MOPS also offers knowledgeable home-school substitutes through its MOPPETS program to give home-school mothers a break. The group designates teams each week to organize meals, speakers, activities and events ranging from hunting to prom. Last week’s speaker, district officer Josh Waldrip of New Mexico Game and Fish, educated the group on safe wildlife areas and activities as well as licensing for fishing and hunting and laws to learn about with their children.
