Members of Paws & Claws, the Artesia Trailblazers, the Artesia Chamber of Commerce and numerous public officials with the City of Artesia, Eddy County Commission and the State Legislature gather this morning for the official ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of Artesia’s new animal shelter. The 4,500-square-foot facility will begin housing stray cats and dogs on March 1, according to Infrastructure Director Byron Landfair.

This is a state of the art facility that has taken into consideration all aspects of animal sheltering. The engineer did a fabulous job considering the financial constraints for which to work in. I applaud the city and council for making an animal shelter a priority for the community and the animals of the community. Paws and Claws, supporters and public officials you should be very proud of this accomplishment. Congratulations!
