It was determined Madron resided at 75 E. Compress Road, No. 5. Deputies evacuated nearby residences and secured the scene. Members of the Eddy County Tactical Response Team were also dispatched to assist in the incident.
While on scene, it was determined Madron was indeed already home. Contact was made with him by telephone, and he was eventually negotiated out of his residence and taken into involuntary custody. Deputies transported him to Artesia General Hospital, where he was admitted for a mental evaluation.
On scene, deputies were able to locate a propane tank. It was determined it had not been tampered with or opened to possibly create an explosive environment.
