ARTESIA — The Artesia Fire Department responded Monday morning to a structure fire at 2709 W. Grand Ave. that had advanced into the attic and through the roof of the home.
Firefighting personnel were hampered by the wind, which pushed the fire through the attic and structure quickly. Fire Marshal James Abner said crews did well and managed to keep the fire contained to two rooms and the attic space.
No one was injured in the fire, and it is still unknown whether the structure was occupied prior to the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
