It looks like Artesia is going to keep construction crews very busy beginning this spring.
During Tuesday night’s Artesia City Council meeting, Josh Skarsgard, a real estate attorney and developer from Albuquerque, gave a presentation on the plans for a new Dollar Tree and potential strip mall and hotel coming to Artesia. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
“My role is purchasing the property and developing the Dollar Tree, but I’m also helping out as a consultant in regards to the 19-acre master plan,” Skarsgard said. “Artesia is gaining some critical mass in the retail sector, and that’s why I’m here. We’re hoping to bring some more gross receipts tax and jobs to Artesia as well as some great places to shop.”
Currently, Skarsgard is primarily focused on developing the Dollar Tree, which will be built on 26th Street. Skarsgard promised the 9,000-square-foot, wood-framed building would “all be first class.” He also pointed out Dollar Tree is currently the third-fastest growing retail store in the country, behind Chipotle and McDonald’s.
