As part of his “Mobile Office Day” tour, Lt. Governor John Sanchez visited City Hall Wednesday afternoon to speak with constituents and answer any possible questions in reference to New Mexico state government.
Throughout the two-day tour of New Mexico, which had the lieutenant governor stopping in eight different communities throughout the state, Sanchez said the majority of questions asked of him dealt with the state’s gross receipts tax and remaining industrially competitive with Texas. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
“We’ve heard a lot about that, particularly in Clovis, Portales, Hobbs and places that are close to the Texas border,” Sanchez said. “So we’re hearing everyone’s concerns, and we’ll be taking them back to the executive branch and members of the Legislature and telling them that these are the concerns that people are having.
“It goes to show you that New Mexico needs to be competitive, whether it is through gross receipts or our corporate tax rate.”
