Workers deck the halls Friday morning at The Derrick Floor on Main Street in preparation for the holiday season. Christmas will officially arrive in the downtown district Thursday, Nov. 29, as the Artesia Chamber of Commerce and Artesia MainStreet host the annual Light Up Artesia event. Santa Claus will come to town at 5:45 p.m. Thursday and will be available for Christmas requests from 6-8:45 p.m. at the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center. Local merchants will also stay open late for holiday shopping, and vendors will offer specialty items and goodies along the downtown sidewalks. Rob Larson – Daily Press
