For $8.50, customers can make their order a combo, which includes a drink and a side – chips, potato salad, pasta, coleslaw or a cup of the soup of the day. Hobo’s also offers a half-sandwich and soup deal for $5.25 and a cup of soup and chips for $3.25.
Sonya McKnight, Hobo’s owner, said that her personal favorites are the roast beef and corned beef sandwiches, but she highly recommends trying the daily specials whipped up by the manager and head chef, Chef Rosie.
Chef Rosie began working in restaurants, specifically in a deli just like Hobo’s, when she was only 13 years old. Thanks to working in restaurants, she was able to earn a degree from a subsidiary of the Culinary Institute of Hyde Park. She has lived in Artesia for 12 years.
