On the first day of Republican Steve Pearce’s 1,200-mile, 20-city bus tour through New Mexico’s Second Congressional District, the congressman stopped Tuesday afternoon in Artesia along with Heather Wilson, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, as a special guest.
“The choice today is ours,” Pearce said.  “We face a decision between two futures. The president promised to fundamentally transform our country, and we’ve seen the direction we’ve gone as a result. New Mexicans have lost our jobs. We’ve lost our freedoms. The Fight for New Mexico Jobs Bus Tour began Tuesday morning in Hobbs. After holding a rally, Pearce then went to Carlsbad to speak with voters before heading to The Jahva House in Artesia and then to the Artesia Chamber of Commerce. At the chamber, Pearce and Wilson were joined by, among others, Republican state Senate candidate Cliff Pirtle, New Mexico Representatives Bill Gray and Cathrynn Brown, and Chamber Director Hayley Klein.
