ARTESIA — After receiving a call just before 8:30 a.m. today, the Artesia Police Department responded to Second Chances Thrift Store in regard to a kidnapping and battery.
Commander Lindell Smith of the APD said detectives are currently working on the case by conducting interviews, scene processing and evidence gathering. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
“The victim is accounted for, alive and without major injury,” said Smith. “Detectives are looking for suspects they have in mind and continue to gather physical and testimonial type evidence from the scene and persons involved.
“There is no direct danger to the public.  There is no reason at all to believe that this incident is connected in any way to any other incidents that have been reported in the recent past in town.”
Smith stated further details would be released following a full investigation of the crime.
