ARTESIA — On Sept. 17, 1962, Ruby Parker opened an accounting practice in the office located at 104 W. Hermosa Drive in Artesia. Today, 50 years later, she still operates that accounting practice just down the street at 405 W. Hermosa Drive.
Her first day in business she had just one client — a new service station on First Street. Shortly after opening the office, she looked out to see two businessmen walking along the sidewalk.
