Beginning as just a shoplifting call, Artesia Police Department officers found themselves involved in a dangerous, high-speed chase Sunday evening with Kristen L. Seeley of Artesia. After being arrested, Seeley, 32, admitted to the authorities that she was under the influence of narcotics.
The police report states officers were dispatched to Wal-Mart in reference to someone attempting to leave the store with stolen items. Upon arrival, officers immediately noticed a silver Chevrolet pickup truck leaving the parking lot at a very high rate of speed. … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
After the truck turned onto 26th Street, officers allegedly saw Seeley fail to stop for traffic signals and numerous stop signs as they were catching up to the vehicle. Due to the nature of Seeley’s driving, officers suspected that she was operating her vehicle under the influence.
By the time Seeley reached Grand Avenue, APD officers called off the pursuit “due to the driving of the vehicle.”
